The consensus position
Mainstream comparative linguistics derives Ancient Greek γυνή from Proto-Indo-European *gʷen-h₂- "woman", with the Attic-Ionic γυ- vocalism explained either by analogical spread from the oblique stem or by an anaptyctic vowel between the labiovelar and the nasal; Boeotian βανά shows the regular outcome. No relationship to Bantu is recognised.
